Sunday the first of April - Hello Denmark!

Hey! I have been tired since I arrived in Denmark, because of the jetlag. The trip home was better than the other way - it felt faster. It was a very good study trip and I can't wait to go back. I don't know if I will recommend British Airways, because of the delayed flights, but I don't think it was their fold anyway.. I think the hotel was really good, even though the beds were a bit small. You have to beware, that many hotels in New York, doesn't have really good breakfast, so if you want that, you should go out and eat instead. As I promised I will show some of the things I bought :). I hope you enjoyed following my trip!

Friday the 30th of March – Goodbye New York, see you soon

So this is our last day in the city.. :( Today me and Mie are going out to shop and just visiting the places, we feel that we have to see, before we go home to little Denmark. I hope to find a new jacket, that I have been chasing in a store and some shoes. We are busy today, because we have many places to visit before 06:00 p.m. where we have to be back at the hotel. So this is just a short post, and I will write again when I am home in DK! I have really loved NYC and I am sure I'm going to miss it. I know I will come back, even though it is a very expensive trip - it was worth it. Everything is big here.. The buildings, shops and commercials - and much cheeper than in Denmark. I think I will move to NYC ;) See you!

Thursday the 29th of March – Visiting Apple, Statue of Liberty and Soho

Hey guys.. Today we went to a workshop at Apple, but before that, we walked on the High Line. It is a renovated walking street above the ground and there are old train racks on it too. We walked under a hotel, which I could recognise from the movie ”Shame”. We had a little break between that and going to Apple, so we went to the biggest eletronic store in the world called B&H. It is special because almost all the empoyers are jews and the items roll on ties under the ceiling from the stock room to the places you pay.. At the Apple workshop, we were in groups of two people and I was together with Mie. First we had to make a song in the program Garageband, and then we made a video to it by taking pictures and putting it all together. It was fun, but not so learning for us, because we already know the programs.. It only took around two hours, so after that we went to see the Statue of Liberty. We had booked tickets and the queue was a lot smaller than the last time, so it didn’t take so long to get in. The Statue of Liberty is much smaller than I expected it to be, but in movies they always film it from an angle, where it looks really big. We didn’t board the island, but we went to Ellis Island, where immigrants were received back in the days. There was a museum and a theater. We didn’t spend long time there, so we took the fairy back and went to Soho. That area is not like where we live. It is not filled with commercials and it is cosy.. When we got home, we ate the biggest Pizza in the world. Tomorrow is our last day in NYC! All the day we can decide for our selves what to do – me and Mie have shopping plans!

Wednesday the 28th of March – NBC Studios and a sad memorial

So today we went to Rockefeller Plaza again, but this time it was to see NBC Studios. We had two guides, that showed us 3-4 different studios, where they film talkshows, new and the weather. None of us knew the shows they make, but it was fun to see it anyway. At last two from the group we walked around with, got the chance to try being a news host and a weather woman. They were actually good at it. After that we went to the memorial and on the way, I saw a man with a cat on his head! The memorial was a big place with two fountains, where the two towers were before. It was beautiful, but it was also surrounded by a sad mood. The place is not open for the public yet, but it will be when all the towers is rebuilt. After seeing the memorial, me and Mie went to a outlet nearby and later we shopped on Times Square.

Wednesday the 28th of March – Good morning

Good morning! Just a quick update.. I just ate breakfast and don’t have so much time before we leave. We are going to see NBC Studios and the 9/11 Memorial. I’m especially excited to see the memorial, because it is so meaningful and it must be weird to be right where all the horrible things happened in 2001. I will update you tonight, have a good day!

Tuesday the 27th of March – Brooklyn Bridge and power shopping

Today we walked over Brooklyn Bridge. We took the underground to Brooklyn, but we lost one of our teachers, because they had agreed on getting of at different train stations. After waiting on him and calling him, we went to the bridge and started walking. It was New York City from a different view. Suddenly we saw our lost teacher walking towards us from the other end of the bridge.. Reunion! Then we walked through a little park and to Wall Street. It is quite small for such a famous street. After that we had time to do what we wanted. Me, Mie and some of the boys decided to go to the outlet called Woodbury. A bus drove us straight to the outlet and it was like a little city with stores. We spent so many hours (and money), that we took the last bus home.. When I am home in Denmark again, I will show you all the things I bought. Good day!

Monday the 26th of March – Statue of slowness

Today mine and the other class went to the place, where you take the fairy to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. A memorial for the American soldiers, that lost their lives in the war was close to the fairy, so we also saw that on the way. The queue to the fairy was so long, that we couldn’t even see the entrance. After two hours of waiting and listening to a funny street musician, we all agreed that we should come again another day, because we hadn’t moved so much in the queue and the weather was rainy. So instead we went to Rockefeller Plaza to go in Top of the Rock. As in Empire State Building, it was a fantastic view, but it was also a bit scary (I’m can be afraid of heights). When we got down with the so very quick elevator, we walked to Grand Central Station to eat some food before we went to MOMA (Modern Museum of Art). We got a little assignment on the museum, which was to find all the Danish designers in the design apartment. We did it really fast and went out to shop! We didn’t have time to go to a lot of stores, because two of the boys saw a place, where they could get their hair cut, so I also decided to get my eyebrows waxed! It has been a busy day and we really managed to see a lot of things. Good nighty, you will hear from me tomorrow!

The place we ate our breakfast. I got sushi!

Sunday the 25th of March – Time for experiences

We were supposed to go on the move sightseeing at 10:00 am, but since we were going with the other class from our school, we had to wait, because they still had not arrived in the city. The bus would pick us up at 04:00 p.m. instead, so we used the time meanwhile to explore the area around the hotel and eat breakfast. When the other class came to the hotel, they were so happy, because they had received 500 pounds, because of the delayed flight.. Yes, we were a bit jaloux.. When we were on the bus, our guide James spoke about all the places we drove by, where there had been filmed movies and series. We also got out of the bus a couple of times to walk around in some areas. Some of the things we saw were the building from ”Friends”, Carries house from ”Sex and the City”, the world’s smallest house and China Town. When we were finished with the tour, we ate dinner and later we went up in Empire State Building – even though everybody was so exhausted. The view from the Empire was so fantastic and you could see all of New York, the buildings and the lights. On the way home I bought a Ben&Jerry ice cream (yummy). I have taken some beautiful pictures.. Goodnight

Saturday the 24th of March – Arriving in NYC

Hey guys, I just wanted to write before I fall asleep, but I hope I will be awake long enough to post this..
We all met at Kastrup Airport at 11:00 a.m., ofcouse I was a little late because of my slow parents. The flight to London was without problems, but when we were about to board the flight to New York, it was 2,5 hours delayed, because the aircondition was out of order.. It was not so cool and when we got into the plane, it was hot like a sauna. Besides of all this, it was a good trip.
When we arrived at JFK Airport, we had to go through some security steps. The line was very long and that was a bit annoying after such a long, exhausting trip. But I don't think the security was so crazy, as some people make it sound - they took a picture of our face and scanned our finger prints. After we got  our laggage, we were picked up by a bus, that drove us straight to the hotel. Very relaxing compared to crowded trains and transport switchings.. Our guide James was there to tell us a lot of facts about New York and that really kept us from falling asleep. Because of the jetlag, we were so tired, but we went to Times Square anyway after we checked into the hotel. It was so close to the hotel, that we could go there by foot in 5 minuts. Times Square was so overwhelming, because of all the tall buildings, big luminous commercials and the stores, that close really late. I took some pictures of the Square and a picture of the view from our hotel room - they can't be compared to the reality, because they don't show all the impressions. Me and Mie from my class went to Friday's (restaurant) with some of the boys and our teacher Christian. Then we got back to the hotel and now I am sitting on the bed.. I'm living with Mie and Julie. We are actually the only girls in our class - so there was no fights about who should live with who.. Another class on our school is staying here too, but they are still in London, while there was something wrong with their plane. I have to sleep now, hope you all had a nice day!

The food we got on the New York plane - I bet you have seen better
